In the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “The Frog King,” a spoiled princess becomes friends with a frog. He magically transforms himself into a handsome prince. There are found many versions of the story and how the enchantment is raised. In the most popular, the princess kisses the frog.

Frogs, going through a change process from egg to tadpole (both in water) for terrestrial animals, which very naturally becomes a symbol of transformation, birth and resurrection, beginning, fertility and sexuality. It is virtually an entire evolution, frog through and in the world of fairy tales is “evolution” on, so the seeds that are being kissed, turns into a prince. Grimms Fairy-Tales Frog King. In the tale, a spoiled princess reluctantly befriends a frog (possibly meeting him after dropping a gold ball into his pond), who magically transforms into a handsome prince. Although in modern versions the transformation is invariably triggered by the princess kissing the frog, in the original Grimm version of the story the frog’s spell was broken when the princess threw it against a wall in disgust. In other early versions, it was sufficient for the frog to spend the night on the princess’s pillow. The frog can be as amphibians used as an alchemical symbol for both water and land, by analogy with newts duality of fire and water. In ancient Egypt, the frog is a symbol for birth goddess Heket. In an ancient Indian myth from the Vedas, it supports the Great Seed entire universe and is a symbol of the primaeval disordered matter. In Japan, the frog is a lucky animal. In the Old Testament, the frog is one of the ten plagues of Egypt. It can be associated with witches and hell and in China with the moon, including such as that which causes lunar eclipses by swallowing the moon. The Greek comedy writer Aristophanes wrote in 405 BC a parody of tragedy of frogs.
